About This School

College of Eastern Idaho is a public institution located in Idaho Falls, Idaho with approximately 1,396 undergraduate students enrolled. The average net price after financial aid is $8,728 per year. Typical graduates earn $30,200 within 10 years of enrollment.

College of Eastern Idaho (CEI) is a public community college in Idaho Falls, Idaho. It was founded in 1969 as Eastern Idaho Vocational Technical School and later became a technical college called Eastern Idaho Technical College. In May 2017, Bonneville County residents voted to create a community college district, allowing Eastern Idaho Technical College to become a community college. In July 2017, the Idaho State Board of Education appointed five community college trustees and completed the transition to community college. Together with the College of Southern Idaho, College of Western Idaho and North Idaho College, CEI is one of only four comprehensive community colleges in Idaho.

Worth considering if you're pursuing a trade, technical, or vocational path on a tight budget — at just $8,728/year average net price and median debt of under $8,000, the financial risk here is genuinely low. That said, median earnings of $30,200 a decade out are modest, so this school makes the most sense as a launching pad for a specific career credential rather than a broad degree with high earning expectations. If you know what you want to do and want to minimize debt while doing it, CEI is a practical, no-nonsense choice.
