About This School

Mayfield College is a private for-profit institution located in Cathedral City, California with approximately 316 undergraduate students enrolled. The average net price after financial aid is $22,604 per year.

Mayfield College is a defunct Roman Catholic boys' boarding school founded as the Holy Trinity Orphanage For Boys in 1865–1866 by the American-born Dowager Duchess of Leeds, Louisa Catherine Caton, one mile from Mayfield, East Sussex. The main building and attached chapel were built in the Gothic style, primarily of red brick and are Grade II listed, having been designed by E. W. Pugin. After closure in 1999 both the main building and chapel were converted into luxury apartments now collectively called Mayfield Grange. Officially opening in 1868 it was also known as the Xaverian Brothers School, St Xavier's College and Xaverian College at various times. Mayfield College was built as one of a pair of orphanages at the Duchess's expense, the other originally known as St Michael's Orphanage for Girls in Bletchingley, East Sussex, also designed by Pugin.

The numbers tell a cautiously optimistic story: with median debt at graduation of just $9,025, students here are leaving with far less loan burden than at many comparable schools, which matters a lot for long-term financial health. However, as a small for-profit institution with only 316 undergraduates, prospective students should research graduate outcomes carefully — for-profit colleges vary widely in how well they translate a degree into real earning power. Worth considering if the specific program aligns directly with your career goal, but compare job placement rates and earnings data before committing to the $22,604 annual net price.
