About This School

Danville Community College (DCC) is a public community college in Danville, Virginia. It is part of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Unlike many of the other VCCS schools, it predates the formation of a statewide body for junior colleges. Its roots began in 1936 as Danville Textile School.. In addition, a branch campus of Virginia Tech located in Danville was folded into the college in 1968 Danville Community College also has a baseball team, which won the Virginia Community College System state baseball championships in 2006 and 2007.

With a net price of just $7,158 per year and median debt at graduation of only $6,100, this is one of the more affordable paths to a credential in Virginia. Worth considering if you're looking to minimize costs while completing an associate degree or transferring to a four-year school — DCC's connection to the Virginia Community College System makes that transfer pathway real. The honest concern is post-graduation earnings: the median income 10 years out sits at $29,400, so if you're pursuing a terminal degree here rather than transferring, make sure the program you choose has a clear payoff in the local job market.
