About This School

Wor–Wic Community College is a public community college in Salisbury, Maryland. The college's name is a portmanteau of Maryland's Worcester and Wicomico counties. It was founded in 1975 and operated as a "college without walls" in the two counties for 20 years before constructing a campus in Salisbury in 1994. In 1989, state legislation was enacted to allow Somerset County residents to attend Wor-Wic at the in-county tuition rate.

The numbers tell a genuinely encouraging story here: graduates carry only $3,500 in median debt, and at $6,573/year in net cost, this is one of the more affordable paths to a credential or transfer. The concern worth noting is that median earnings of $31,400 a decade out are modest, so this makes the most sense as a launchpad — either toward a four-year transfer or a specific local career in healthcare, trades, or public service — rather than a final destination for students with higher earning ambitions.
