About This School

South Seattle College is a public institution located in Seattle, Washington with approximately 1,495 undergraduate students enrolled. The average net price after financial aid is $6,802 per year. The graduation rate is 26%, and the typical graduate earns $43,600 within 10 years of enrollment.

South Seattle College is a public community college in the Seattle neighborhoods of West Seattle and Georgetown. Founded in 1970, it is one of three colleges which make up the Seattle Colleges District. The Seattle Community Colleges District Board of Trustees voted unanimously in March 2014 to change the name of the District to Seattle Colleges and to change the names of the colleges to Seattle Central College, North Seattle College, and South Seattle College. It is home to the South Seattle College Arboretum and incorporates the Georgetown Campus near Boeing Field.

The numbers tell a mixed story here: at just $6,802/year net cost and only $5,478 in median debt at graduation, this is one of the most affordable paths to a credential in the Seattle area, which matters. The concern is the 26% graduation rate — most students who start here don't finish, so it's worth asking yourself honestly what support systems you'll need to be the exception. If you're pursuing a specific vocational or workforce program and have a clear plan, this can be a smart, low-risk investment; if you're undecided and need structure, it may be a harder environment to stay on track.
